    good day everyone,
Hope you are all staying well on the road...
My question is if I have a tv with built-in wifi in the truck will it connect to truck stop wifi with relative ease?

    Thank you

It should be easy, but there’s no need for that. If you have a smartphone, look into how to use “screen mirroring.” This will allow you to transfer what’s on your smartphone screen to your smart TV without using mobile hotspot. I should add that you must have a smart TV. If you have an older TV, then you can connect your smartphone to your TV via an HDMI cable that you can buy online.

Yes. The truck stop wif-fi is just a network your device can detect if the signal is strong enough. Your TV is called a "smart TV." With a Roku or Amazon Fire Stick you can make any TV with an HDMI connection and wi-fi network a smart TV.

I have carried a Roku device that connects to my truck TV. I also have Amazon Fire sticks on my TVs at home. As long as the wi-fi signal is strong enough and fast enough you can. I use the Roku to connect either to truck stop wif-fi or use my smartphone as a mobile hotspot.

Thank you PE_Trans. We do have the dongle for connecting iPhone to to tv. However, we are just looking into using the wifi on the tv to connect to truck stop in particular TAs and using the Netflix app on the tv - if we can.

TA/Petro WiFi is garbage. The only WiFi worth buying is Pilot/FJ, but occasionally their WiFi may not reach your truck, so you either have to know where to park or walk into the building.

In this day and age, if you have Verizon or AT&T, you should be able to have data reception in over 95% of truck stops. Times have changed tremendously. I have no problems watching YouTube or Netflix every day.

Got the Verizon "fire spot" I think it's called that . It's a hot spot for my smart TV

I have Metro PCS and I use PDANet+ to hide the tethering. You can direct USB connect that to the TV or whatever device you're using. And then I use kodi to watch all the movies and TV shows I want for free. No cable subscription no internet subscription 4G data all the day long
