As the title states. I am currently interested in being a hot shot driver. I live in Bay Area, CA and currently attending a CC to become a Dental Hygienist to make money. From than on I want to save money for a new Ram/Chevy 3500 and hit the road. I know I should get a CDL and have some money stacked up in a bank account but I wanted to ask the professionals if their is anything else I should look out for and what to plan for accordingly?

Not a good sign when you can't make up your mind between Ram and Chevy.

Well, seems you're not close to a DOT facility.
Attend a cdl school vs. dental hygienist school.

This may not be the answer you’re looking for.

    Don’t do it.

Get an understanding of the industry. Drive a company truck for a few years first. Look at it this way. You’re going to get paid to learn the game. Once you’ve learned how it works, then you can make informed decisions about your future plans.

By the time you save the $120k to buy the pickup truck, GM will be out of business and ram will be owned by Toyota.

Eight years from now California won't allow human drivers on their roads.
