2019 VNL 760
When starting with a heavy load, all appears to be normal. After 40 to 43 seconds while hammered down, boost suddenly drops to max of 15 psi via dash pressure gauge. Tried experimenting, had nothing to do with speed or rpm, literally a timed event.
The other strange items...
If we pull over, turn off truck, immediately turn back on, turbo operates normally for 40 to 43 seconds, again drops to 15 psi max turbo pressure.
Which leads us to try turning off engine and back immediately back on while moving down road. After the dash reset, again same above results. which can be replicated over and over.
Also, if we stay under 30 psi by throttling on flat terrain, we can continue without an issue and/or limit to time periods of 30+ psi to under 30 seconds, again, can continue relatively speaking.
No obvious air leaks - all appears to be secure
Turbo has less than 100k
Water separator replaced just in case, looked a bit dirty
Fuel filter replaced last week with water separator, possible bad fuel and TA put incorrect micron filter
New engine air filter
What can we test? Has anyone seen this exact same issue?
Turbo Boost Max 15 psi

Take it someplace and have a pressure test done. Could be a loose clamp or a hairlime crack someplace. Also have your egr valve checked to ensure its not jamming partly open due to buildupa or failures. Finally check the sensors to ensure they are all both reporting correctly and working correctly.

I have a similar acting problem with boost pressure, but I am throwing lots of codes for temperature high at the egr also, are the temp sensors separate, or part of the egr itself?

Had a code (P2A1700) which didn't pop-up on dash. A lobe on camshaft rotated 90 degrees.

Hi. I have the same problem. How do you guys fix it? Thank you

On my truck(D16), if the EGTs get close to 900 it will derate to about 10 psi of boost. If you have the option to show the temperature on your dash, monitor it while driving to confirm. If this is happening, you'll want to figure out why it's overheating or why it's reading higher temperatures. My issue was an injector going out combined with a bad EGR valve.

I am having the exact same issue with my Peterbilt with MX13. What was the solution to your problem? -

Was anyone able to find out anything.? I have a vnl860 same issues.. I was thinking a vacuum leak.. is anyone else leaking coolant.. or is that unrelated..?? Thank you
