I got a speeding citation while driving my truck. I was doing 10 miles over the CA 55mph regulation. I've been digging into my driving records trying to understand where I stand and how it will effect me.
Is it dumb of me to hope that the judge decides to only give me a written warning? I'm not very confident that I can get it dismissed. But does a warning go on my psp score? It seems like it does, but I read somewhere that it only effects my record and my company's csa score if a dot inspection was done along with it. When I got the citation i was not given a dot inspection along with it. Does that have an effect? Or am I likely doomed along with an unhappy employer?

    You got a speeding ticket.

    Not a warning.

    Not an inspection.

    You'll need a lawyer.
    Call roadlaw.

If it's your only ticket. The prosecution will probably be lenient and recommend the judge a lesser ticket so it may stay off your driving record. As long as you pay the fine.

California is trucker friendly. They just want your money. Unless their attitude has changed in the last 10 years.

I paid a lawyer. He got the ticket changed to a logbook violation. I still had to pay the fine of $450+lawyer. But it stayed off my record.

That's how the system works. In truck friendly states.

Wyoming and New Mexico are NOT truck friendly. Lawyers won't even take your money because they're no win states. Keep your ##** clean in those states.

I have no idea on the eastern states. Never got a ticket on that side.

GA are not truck friendly, VA don't like trucks, but usually will work, say an overweight violation, that only stays in state, as long as you pay, won’t be a record.
Dont pay, they’ll pull your license, in that state.

    snowwy Thanks this.

Find a lawyer near the court district shown on the ticket. May cost you there in CA $500 or more. They know how to deal with the local prosecutors and may be successful in changing the ticket to a non moving violation that won't show on your record. You will still have to pay at least the same amount as for the speeding ticket on the top of the lawyer's fee. As far as the judge feeling sympathy for you and giving you a warning, don't count on it.

1st as others have said.. get a lawyer to fight the ticket.

Your psp and csa will be fine.. these points come from only 2 places... dot inspection and accident reports

I already am using a lawyer group, it just that I have to write a statement explaining what had happened. CA has a thing since covid that people don't have to physically show up in court for the hearing. We just have to fill in a bunch of paperwork stuff and send in a bond payment.
I've been trying to figure out whether I should ask the judge to give me a written violation instead. Or maybe I shouldn't ask for it. I'm just feeling a little anxious and my mind is kinda all over the place right now.

Your lawyer should advise you on what the statement should say.
