Crossing the ambassador into Windsor there are three lanes in each direction with signs posted for trucks to use the "curb lane." I assumed that meant the right lane, with its 4-5" sidewalk curb, though the left lane does have an ~18" curb-type median. Still I seem pretty sure of myself until I see every other truck in both directions using the middle lane. EVERY one. So am I not understanding what a curb lane is, or do most people just ignore the half-dozen signs?

Lol...Im sure you have been driving vehicles for the last 5 years at least...and you have never heard of the curb lane? Common sense should prevail n tell you that its the lane most likely to have a curb next to it.

    Whats next...whats a chicken coop?

It is definitely not a phrase in my regional vernacular (like "pop" for soda/cola). And like I said, what seemed like the obvious answer ran counter to the actions of the ~40 trucks on the road...

I have to say, I did like phrase "points d'inaptitude." I hope to bring that one back...

Well c'mon now...gotta think for yerself sometimes instead of just following everyone elses lead. If everyone was doin 80 mph in a 60 zone, does that mean that it would be ok?

I imagine Asch's experimental results would have been even more heavily skewed towards conformity had he used foreign participants alongside native confederates.

You haven't been to the gta area. Nobody does the speed limit. If you do you'll get run over.

1st off, my heartfelt condolences for you having to use Uncle Matty's folly at all, and to answer your question, the guys in the middle lane are automotive haulers using the FAST lane. of course, not ALL of them are FAST approved as it seems that a lot of noobs are using the FAST express lane to jump past the rest of us suckers in the curb lane. They should have their 4 way flashers on when they're crossing too. Just means they're more special than we are is all.

Also, where did they get the space to add a 3rd lane in either direction? There were only 2 in each direction in the thirty-odd years that I had the misfortune to have to cross there.

The bridge itself has only 2 lanes in each direction so I assume you mean the road leading to the bridge thru Windsor.Trucks heading to the bridge are to use the middle lane and trucks heading out of Windsor are to use the curb lane. Those are the rules but few follow them.

    double yellow Thanks this.
