We are looking at starting a Truck Wash that is automated with help onsite for the really dirty trucks. I was wondering what the community thinks is the best location for a Truck Wash is?

    1) Close to Industrial hubs to get a wash and/or clean out prior to or after loads
    2) On the road at truck stops/fuel locations
    3) Other

We know Blue Beacon has a large network. What are they missing in their truck washing operations?

    Do wait times matter?

Wait time to me isn’t an issue as long as the wash is acceptable in terms of what i pay for..I’m willing to wait a bit longer if trucks washes are done properly.

Washes are only as good as the people working there. Get a reputation for terrible wash jobs or trucks having to go through multiple times to clean up missed spots it will sink your business. The automated ones with the hand washing in the middle are ok but still not perfect.

Startup cost will be a huge factor. I believe it’s close to $3mil by the time you do everything the EPA wants as far as waste water recovery and such.

Not to cause worries but Loves Travel Centers is getting into the truck wash game. Make sure that you get into an area away from them. Big companies will use them because they offer lines of credit.

Yes 100 % word of mouth is the best form of advertising, if your business gets a good reference other drivers are going to bring their rigs around for a clean, the issue with a lot of businesses is they'll try and short change the customer treat them like dirt then wonder why the business is not successful, treat your customers like royalty be generous and you will prosper. I've seen businesses that were in the worst possible location but because of the great reputation they had would always have customers, so its not about location, location, but about service , service service, quality, quality quality.
