I take my showers at pilots, and their soap seems weird to me. Usually after you wash the soap off, your skin is dry and not slick.
But their soap almost leaves an oily residue on your skin, so it is slick.
I mean it gets you clean, but i wonder what it is that leaves your skin slippery, instead of rougher. maybe the film is supposed to keep you clean longer, like a protective coating.
I know this is a stupid topic, but this is what i think about while driving all day.

I carry my own soap solves that problem quickly.

Yes, carry your own soap. Plus water is different around the country. Soft water feels like you never can get the soap off. My mother had well water with a water softner. I hated taking showers at her place.
Hey, you are from Aberdeen. That's where I was born. On the Army base when it was active. Lived on James St. I have fond memories of the Chesapeke and crabbing.skibum_63 Thanks this. -

I traveled for many years staying in motels and such. Always carried my own soap. Makes you feel more like at home.

yea i grew up down here on the bay. Yea every time i a see the sun rise over a body of water i think about crabbing in the bay.

i went in a petro for a shower and i think there water was treated with skin softener or something because it had that same oily feeling, it did'nt seem to rinse off.

Even certain brands of bar soap that you buy yourself will leave that behind. I can't stand that feeling.
I washed my hands at some rest area a couple weeks ago and I swear the soap must of just been lard. I rinsed and rinsed for 10 minutes and couldn't get the feeling off my hands. Felt like I had an 1/8" coating on my hands. Smelled good though. -
I'm an Irish Spring man myself. I loved those old commercials where the guy would cut a slice of soap with his pocket knife. I never understood what he was trying to prove. Yep. Irish Spring and Old Spice aftershave. What a fresh clean feeling. I'm going to take a shower.

I hate to say it, but not by choice, I'm a Dove man.
Not because I want to be silky smooth, but now with hypothyroidism my skin is supersensitive to dyes and perfumes found in most soaps and laundry detergents. I used to use Dial.
One time I bought some cheap laundry detergent and stopped and washed all my clothes and even my blankets. My skin had a reaction and literally burned and started peeling like a sunburn. It was painful.
Just so happen my dispatcher run me hard for a week, spending nights everywhere but a truck stop. I had no choice but to deal with it. Finally I took a 34 and bought some new detergent with no dye or perfume and rewashed everything.
I'll never forget that week. The week from hell.Big Don Thanks this.
