I have an app called truckstops on my droid. It is worth the $2.25 I paid for it.
I do have the pocket sized guide too, and it is still in one piece after 9 months, but the mileage is list on each interstate is usually 5+ miles off. Not that is a big deal..
My Truck GPS on my droid has truck stops and rest areas as POIs, but it's not near as accurate at the truckstop app. Plus the app lists all the truck friendly Walmarts..

Hi, My name is Frank Salisbury, and I am the publisher of The Pocket Truck Stop Guide (and still haul loads). I know this thread is getting a little old but, because of the success of Truckersreport.com, and it's high ranking, it keeps popping up on Google and other search engines with the keyword "scam" from the above post. I assure you, we are anything but a scam. I hope Mr. Barradas, the founder of this excellent site, will let me respond, and I'm not trying to advertise here, I just thought it might be useful to you, the reader, to hear what happened. We have sold over three million Pocket Truck Stop Guides in the last fifteen years but we made a mistake and used a printing company out of Canada in 2011 and, indeed, we had a big problem with books falling apart prematurely. We terminated them immediately in lieu of an old established quality printing company back here in the US: and we're with them to this very day. The moment we knew there was a problem we started putting notices throughout the guide that, if for any reason a driver has a problem with a book, to call us and/or send it back and we will replace it at no charge. We've added a toll free number and live operators plus extensions to report important changes, openings, closings, road conditions, etc. and we're going to include much more useful information in the future. In fifteen years, we have had very few complaints. If you follow this thread further, you'll see most drivers have never had a problem. Virtually 99% of the books we have ever printed have been just fine (except for some bonehead typos on my part once in a while)...Thanks for taking the time to read my response drivers, and be safe out there!

Mr. Salisbury,
Ever thought about putting out an app? You could charge a few bucks to recoup costs. I think the pocket guide won't have the customer base it one had prior to smart phones in a few years.
I still use the app I recommended on the first page. Just wish it was updated more regularly, especially since it's a paid app. -
KD5AXG Thanks this.

Yes, we've been working on it for some time. We hired some guys a couple of years back out of Dallas/FW that claimed they used to work for Google and they burned us for almost $10,000 before I smelled a rat, ran background checks and found out they were crooks. Then the Feds mentioned they were going to first fine drivers, then yank their CDL's if they observed them with any type of "device" in their hands. Eventually, there will be delivery systems like "heads up display" which will enable you to obtain any info. you need without taking your eyes off the road and that's what we are working on now with a reputable firm. It's brutally expensive but once we get it done, it's going to be very cool.

I still use the Pocket Truck Stop Guide all the time and have used it since I got into my first truck 8 years ago. I have a tablet that has a couple of apps that list truck stops, yet I can find what I need to know quicker by pulling out that little book, flipping to the state, interstate and looking for the mile marker that is closest to where I want to stop. I don't find the $5.00 cost outrageous, especially since I know something of the cost involved with publishing any type of material.

I have both the large guide and the pocket one. I have found the larger one to be much more fragile, to the point I only use it for off the main highway places I may be looking for.
I use the pocket guide daily and extensively. I also have had the same one for close to two years now, it is in just as good a shape as the day I bought it.steakman Thanks this. -
I've used the pocket guide for a couple years with no issues. I also like to pencil in dirt lots where trucks park -- common out west & many have short walking trails to swimming/fishing holes. Much harder to "pencil" in that info into an app
