Hi,
So this is the first time I will drive to Kodiak, AK. Actually it's the first time I am going to cross the border on the truck. And I was trying to find the road on the google and pc miler. It shows me something, but, still, if anyone have already been there, it would be really helpful to hear what you went through. Any advice will help.
Thank you.
Truck Route to Kodiak, AK? Is there any roads?

broker threw my truck on a plane in anchorage.
all kidding aside, where are you entering canada at?
i c a road numbered 27 that turns into 37 and takes youi up to 1 and back to 2/3 through haines junction. there's a scale. once your back on the 3 it turns into 2 at the state line which takes up over to 1 and down through anchorage.
i have copilot on my phones and tablets, they are the same as pcmiler. and it takes a ferry from canada in to alaska anchorage area.
do yourself some good to buy an atlas. if you don't already own one.
you could also look at this websight. www.truckmiles.com. it's truck specific routing. -
Chinatown pointed me to your thread. I run to Alaska all the time and I hope you do realize that Kodiak is Kodiak Island. There is no road going there. You can drive to the end of the Kenai Peninsula in Homer or Seward, but that is where the road stops. There is the Alaska Marine Highway Ferry Service that should get you there. You can get on in Valdez, Whittier and Seward, but if you choose Whittier you will have to pay to go through the rail road tunnel as well.
Here is a link to the Alaska Marine Highway System: http://dnr.alaska.gov/parks/units/kodiak/ferry.htm
Make sure you bring you winter gear and chains. You will be required to carry chains after October 1st. I had my first couple of inches in Glacierview a couple of weeks ago. -

Thank you guys. Everyone is trying to stop me, claiming that it's deadly dangerous. But, Lisa has been there... Why can't I
Anyone is going there any time soon? Maybe we could drive side by side.

Look for one of us produce guys on the road. We usually make two runs per month year round. Also make sure you make enough money going North that you can come back empty. Not a lot of freight coming out of Alaska. When calculating fuel mileage base it on about 5mpg depending on your weight. There are lots and lots of grades to climb. Also make sure you have a CFN or Pacific Pride fuel card so you can get fuel at the card locks. Also fuel is pretty high. Whitehorse, YT is about $5.70 per gallon. We usually estimate about $5000,00 for fuel for a roundtrip.
CorsairFanboy, Siinman and CellNet Thank this.
