Saturday night I got popped down in KS for being off the truck route. Told the officer I had a pickup here where it was and that was why I wasn't on the truck route. Of course 1.5 hours later, a level 2 DOT inspection, complete search of the cab of my truck (and no he didn't ask it was get out of your truck)(####### even crawled in the bunk when my curtains were drawn and zipped and don't even think I didn't start raising hell over that.)
, and 2 tickets later I was off to go make my pickup. Now here is my question. If there is a delivery or pickup in the area off the truck route as a truck driver aren't I allowed legally off the truck route? That was what I was always told and was probably misinformed about that at that time. Just wondering. Is it worth trying to fight the ticket for the truck route or just pay the stupid fine?
Also will the 12 or 15 or however many CSA points that cost me come off if the ticket is dropped? I'm more concerned about those points than the fine at this point. In a matter of 1.5 hours I recieved about 120 ####### points for a trailer not being fixed needless to say that SOB is not moving an inch until it has new rubber put on it it all the way round, is re DOT inspected and fixed.Either that or I'll find another place to work be ###### if I'm getting another 92 points next week for 3 bald trailer tires and an annual inspection not being current.

Well Driver, I was under the same impression of the Truck Route thing, But maybe there is a way in there that is a truck route, I would have had his supervisor out there for the "bunk zip" How do you know he either didn't take something or plant something in there? These guys are only as honest as we keep them to being, Why did he think he could tell you to get out of the truck? They are supposed to ask if they could inspect your truck! That is to bad, He sounds like a County Mounty throwing his power around? I hope you get it taken care of, And as far as the bald tires, I'm sorry the company is so cheap that they won't inspect their trailers and replace the tires they need to. Good Luck I wish you well.

I hate to give you the bad news. If the sign says NO TRUCKS That is it. Must stop and call the shipper & find out how to get to the docks Via Truck route. If the shipper has docks that means they must have a way for trucks to get around the NO TRUCKS Zone. The only carriers that are not fined in the
NO TRUCKS zone is Movers "Van Lines" & only in residential Areas. If the officer can prove there was a truck rout that you could have taken to get there then you R Stuck with that Ticket. If Not you may have a chance but it is going to cost $$$ but then it would be worth Not getting the pionts379exhd Thanks this. -
Couple of years ago I was told by a Kentucky dot that you are allowed up to 3 miles on a non truck designated route if delivering/picking up. Then again at the same time I was ticket for being OD (apparently only day cabs were allowed at that place).

True tho, bottom line is "If the officer can prove there was a truck rout that you could have taken to get there then you R Stuck with that Ticket."
It would have to be the state route (truck route) closest to get to the receiver. I'm not sure how far away he was.
In the Motor Carriers' Road Atlas in State Access Policies, for Kansas it says:
Distance Allowed In Miles From National Network: Unlimited.
Comment: All US and State Routes.379exhd Thanks this. -
Thank you all for the information. I did not see a sign marked NO TRUCKS, I was just informed that I was not on the designated truck route and that's why I was ticketed. I was less than 3 miles from the sale barn when I recieved the ticket. I'm going to call OODIA monday and ask them about what can be done and also explain what the officer did. I thought it was a little ridiculous as well that I had 3 yes 3 officers there when I was pulled over. I was on US 54 when I was stopped runs right through the city however I guess there's a truck route through there. Wasn't on my map and I missed the sing saying truck route. I did see a sign when I came back West through eldarado that WAS marked truck route and took that. Of course wound up running all the way down to HWY 400 because there wasn't anything else marked through the city when I headed south. I don't know that might actually be the truck route you may have to go down to 400 but I wasn't about to get another ticket for being off the truck route. I did not see the sign when I was headed east coming through. I take responsibility for it. It was my fault for missing the sing and not paying attention I understand that however I'm hoping there's a way to get out of some of the points.
I have talked with my dad about it and he wants this to go to court for everything actually he was so furious with the inspection of the truck (cab search) NOT the problems with the trailer that was and should've been written up. But he was not happy about having my truck searched especially in the manner it was conducted. I'll give OOIDA a call on monday and see what can be done if anything and see what they recommmend doing. I'll be on the phone with the county attory in KS as well who knows maybe I can just get everything dropped at least the truck route thing. I've talked to a buddy of mine and he said it was the 28th of september it's an end of the month revenue thing nothing more nothing less. That could also be right. I don't know for sure. I should've had my lap top with me with the lesbian porn wonder if that would've got me out of everything. Even when I'm down I've got to make a joke of something to keep my spirits up and give somebody else a laugh. lol.
THANK YOU ALL FOR THE advise on the situation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
i got pulled over. locally hauling dirt. no signs. and apparently it was newly designated no trucks. he let me slide with a verbal warning. and our office is supposed to have maps for that particular area.
some of the truck routes i've encountered are a flat out joke. 5 mile detour to go around a 1/2 mile stretch of road. the last one i did. took me through a very narrow neighboorhood street. behind what used to be some mill company down another street back to the main road. that detour was NOT designed for trucks. and it was the crack of dawn when i rolled through the hood.379exhd Thanks this. -
Usually when there is a no truck route there are other access routes in. Sometimes a driver has to take the long way. Do your trip planning, look at your Rand McNally trucker's map and all the restrictions in the front of the book.
Also many trucks like you on that road eventually the law will have a talk with the companies to spread the word. When doing your trip planning get in the habit of calling the customer. Many have canned directions that helps avoid them situations or are knowledgeable of the No Trucks.Last edited: Sep 29, 2013
