I am trying to rent a tractor/trailer for CDL skills and road tests in Gainesville Georgia this Friday. I am told a third party tester in Clarksville Ga offers this service. Anyone with more info? Is renting from Pensky/Ryder an option? Thank you

I'm sure Penske and Ryder won't rent to you. You have to have a valid license to rent, and class 8 trucks require more than just a license. You need to have a corporate account. You could check if there's a driving school near you. They usually rent their services for tests. Maybe you could check with one, or maybe find an owner operator willing to take you.
    Good luck with your test.

In San Bernadino there's a guy who rents out a day cab/26' flatbed to test in. He parks it right at the DMV office. It's legal, about $150 for 2 hours.

Thank you for replying to my request. O/O are the most likely option. I found one but says this Friday is too tight. I will have to reschedule a convenient time for him.

Allow me, I wish there was a situation like that here in Gainesville, Georgia.

I was looking for the same in Greenville, Sc area. Had no luck. Ended up having to get my buddy to rent a truck from Penske and take me to the test.

Would it be best to get my cdl license on my own or just go thru the classes?? I know with the classes you gotta do 3 or 4 weeks then go over the road for about a month.. I just want to get my license and start working

If your planning on doing over the road most starting companies will require you to go with a trainer for as many as 6weeks or more.

I'm an advocate for new drivers to get their cal by either an adult education school like I got mine through. Your options are far greater than going through a starter company school.

However if you've already gotten some experience in driving and backing a big truck and are confident you can pass, then why not save the cash
