Ace, HD, Lowes, doesn't have blanks for KW. My KW dealer will only do it from VIN if I bought the truck from them.
I buy the blanks online (cheaper than dealer), take it to HD and the cut it for me.blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
I've had keys cut at Home Depot several times. Never a problem. Good thing too, I keep losing the dang spares.

If it has a chip in the key , a copy from newer trucks if not from a dealer will open only the door and not start the truck.
Other then that a key that works normal.
The key with a chip in it will cost you a few dollars, $100 and up.
Hope to god it is not one on them newer plastic keys that are $800 a pop and up.
" + " on the key would be a good indication it has a chip in it.Last edited: May 5, 2015

Actually a chipped key may not be that bad. On my wife's Buick local locksmith was the cheapest place to get one at $80. I ordered 2 blanks online for $12 and took it to Ace Hardware who cut both for $1.10. We've had the car for over a year with no problems using mostly the new keys.

from recent exp., go to the dealer and get a couple of blanks, take them to ACE Hardware, Home Depot, Lowes or a locksmith and get them cut. The blanks sold by the referenced places, aside from maybe a locksmith, will probably not work. The key blank sold by Ace Hardware for my '15 Mack isn't even close to working, wasted $4.99.
