So my I was driving along and I heard a pop, and started loosing power. I had smoke coming into the cab, so I stopped the truck got out and with in a minute or two the truck was fully engulfed in flames. She burned to the ground, only part of the motor and the frame were recognizable. I haul trash so i have a clean up policy. The tanks caught fire and the firemen sprayed the tanks spilling out diesel. How much does this cost for them to come dig it up and re-do it to DOT specs as it happened in a grassy area? Is this something that is covered under my GL or what? Any info would help.

You will have a contamination clean up to pay for which I've heard can run into the 10's of thousands of dollars. One time my dad was on a hazmat team to run a backhoe and just his rental fees for him and the machine were $150 a hour and that was backin the late 80's so I am thinking maybe 8 to 10 hours of clean up work total.

Always make sure you have environmental cleanup coverage for 'automotive fluids' in your insurance.

Good thing is I do have pollution clean up. It is just the fear of the unknown being as I've never had to deal with anything like this.

sorry to hear about your bad luck i would be pretty sure your insurance should cover it, and should be well within your limits.

iv seen worse re-claimed. company i was working for a few years back had a o/o rollover and spill over 6k gallons of brine water. only too about 2 days on the cleanup a 100 gallons of Diesel should only take a couple hours come and less equipment. a bob cat haul a small dump truck load out and bring a small dump truck worth of new material in.

best of luck to ya hope the tides turn in your favor
