Got myself off the highway and out of a cool Peter mobile and came back to a contracting company that I had worked at for 4 years a few years ago.

Here's the ride that my boss picked up for me. He let me help him spec it. I was shooting for a T800 and it needed to be pretty sleek; however he bought a star car. On top of the usual requirements for a tri axle to work well in northern Ontario, it needed two stacks and breathers at a minimum.

Lucked out! 2017 western star 4900SB. 18 speed, 20 front, 20 pusher and 46 rears on 46k neway air. 600 DD16 under the hood. It's plumbed for a pup(pony dump) and while we don't usually require one, hes in the market for one.

Seeet ride. Although black is impossible to keep clean, especially in the dirt. Hope you have access to a wash bay. Best of luck!!!

We're paid by the hour for the trucks. Aluminum isn't required. It sure looks shiny though!

Black is impossible to keep clean but we do have water, soap and pressure washer at the shop. Just need the time!

    Hey Mac,
How about an update? How's the Star working for you? How are the rates? (Per hour or day)
    And - I hope you making $$$!

We have three tri axles. Two are on the road for the winter and the big star is just sitting pretty in the yard until spring time.

Boss bought it in the fall because it was a good deal and he didn't want to be in a scramble come spring time looking for a truck.

Trucks are paid by the hour for the contractor we generally work for. Rates aren't the best but he makes money and pays the drivers fair. We do our own work also(basements, garages and site work etc) and charge slightly more per hour for the trucks in this situation.

The 2 trucks running this winter. Do they have air or springs on the rears? Looking at at T800 now, it has the AG100 under it. 1998 model truck with only 206,000 miles on it. But has a M 11 and 10 speed. And only a tandem axle.
Has room for a lift axle, so could be turned into a Tri-Axle . Just move the oil tank. And add the lift axle Going to look at it in person this week. Does look like a clean truck. And looks to be a single frame truck. Bed has been used hard, but that can be taken care of.
Concern is the AG100 suspension? Not sure how well it does in a dump truck? It looks to have the 20,000 lb steer axle. Or the big floats up front. Will look and see if it has a true 20,000 steer.

Some (but not all) M11’s were low in the horsepower and torque ratings. Do you know the rating on this one? We always grossed out @ 80k+, in our Tri-axles, and ours were all heavy specs. 20 with floats, 20 pushers, 46 rears on air.

330HP Not sure on the Torque. Its also a single a single frame truck. Looked at it today, and 8.5ft between cab and front tandem. so plenty of room for a third axle.
16ft bed with remote oil tank. Also Its odd has the cab like my 1995 T600. Or the wedge top and extended rear on the cab. Has the three glass's on the back. Big center and 2 rounded side glass's. There right behind the seats.. First tough was daycab kit. But looking under it and inside. Looks factory, and found one more Guy told me he bought new. With extra room behind the seats.
I hauled thousands of loads with a 330 HP Big cam cummins. And it had a 10 speed also. It was a 9300 Eagle factory tri axle dump. Was not the fastest, but did the job.

Forgot it has 46's in the rear. And locker switch on the dash. We can gross 740000 here with a tri-Axle or 80,000 with a Quad. But does not add up to me. Why anyone wants a Quad for 6000 lbs. When most times they can't haul as much as the Tri's can. I used to be able to haul 26 tons on my 1997 General. But it was a low weight single frame truck.
We can't run the interstates. But most are doing it, not sure when there going to be caught. Same as the Quads they can't Bridge the weight. But everyone claims that's whey they went with a Quad.
