A bunch of arrogant annoying pricks that hate truckers and working there..(or so it seems) they are a produce cooler for several shippers.I've been there the last 3 weeks, and pick up 1/2 or maybe 1 pallet of organic lettuce and each time it takes them 4-6 hrs to get it loaded.one time I was backed in a door, waited about 2 hrs hanging around in the cooler for 60 cases, and when Jose finally brought it out,we were 5 cases short. He then told me it would be about another hour before it would be ready.I didn't say a word, turned around dropped his dock plate from my trailer and closed his door.I pulled away mad as hell.

Before you go jumping up&down.....how much do you know about the produce biz honestly? There can be a million legit reasons for this.....including your attitude.....and while they may hate Yuma(cuz they're stuck there for 3months or so a year) For the most part they don't hate drivers....they do on the other hand have lil or no BS tolerance and no one beside the cooler boss has Any say on what/who gets done when....

They can't ship it till its cooled down to the proper temp. That's usually the biggest reason for delay in the produce business
spoonman, hunted, rabbiporkchop and 1 other person Thank this. -
And they can't put it in the cooler until the field workers finished picking it. It seems like half the time out there they're still picking the produce while you're backed into a door.

Quite a few companies/industries load like that. Get the truck in the door, then finish preparing the load. My, how I hate that kind of shipper. No respect. I know every industry has it's details, and every industry has its ways of dealing with transportation, but I just don't see any reason why they can't get the truck in the door once the load is ready instead of 4 hours earlier. The truck comes in on time and waits 4 hours. (say) I guess there's a little detention, but that's not going to pay any bills.

Then when they stack the pallets the only thing keeping the pallet from falling apart is a piece of string wrapped around the boxes. Plastic shrink wrap would be a luxury

Broker Bob,you would correct if that was how it all played out. I didn't include the ending, and I apologize.I left and went down the street to another cooler, where I had an appointment.got loaded there, I then returned to Transwest and all of it was ready.got that on,went to check out and get the Bol, and I was told go park it would be a while on the paperwork 1 hr to be exact. The point is don't back me in to a door and not have it ready or at least have it there.when you have multiple pickups and 2 of them are appt only and the others close at 9 & 10 pm you have to keep it moving along, because that load still has to be all way across the country by Friday regardless.I assume you're a broker and know all this.
rabbiporkchop and Starboyjim Thank this.
