It may be another bs government program, but it is good to have. Shows you passed a background check. Saves escort fees. Pays for itself in 3 visits to ports. And it shows you do what is necessary to be ready for any load, giving your employer more options.

You want to carry utility bills and your birth cert to your State Licensing office, there with some money in hand pay for and get a Enhanced License replacement because that is what you will need to access Federal Military Land or Bases now.

Im still waiting for a answer based on the upcoming air show next year where i might have to get one also in order to be physically allowed to go see it on base.

I used my GOES Card last time I went on a Military Base, they accepted it no questions, and sent me on my way no escort. When I applied for my TWIC, I put on the app I had a GOES Account and the GOES Number, I looked online and it was approved seconds after I walked out of the office where they took my prints and photo, same with my HazMat.

I do not know what a GOES is, but would imagine that card carries authority. Glad you could get that sorted well.

    Good luck!

Don't waste your money on a TWIC unless you need it. Most employers that need you to have one tell you upfront, and will pay for one if you meet their other requirements.

Their is nothing wrong with having one, but overall few trucking jobs need one and it won't make you anymore money unless the job requires it.

Better to spend your money to secure all the endorsements. Hazmat is the same background check, and adding TWIC is just a fee after that.

    Enhanced Licenses.---

Enhanced Driver's Licenses. Five states – Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Vermont, and Washington – currently offer residents the option of receiving either a standard driver's license or an Enhanced Driver's License (EDL).

What is an Enhanced Driver's License (EDL)?
The Enhanced Driver's License (EDL) is a driver's license that is issued to U.S. Citizens or Canadian citizens in the U.S. State or Province in which you reside.

This driver's license is a Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI) compliant document for travels by land or sea only. It denotes both identity and citizenship and is a Radio Frequency Identity card (RFID).

Not all U.S. States and Canadian Provinces issue the EDL.

An Enhanced non-driver photo ID card (ENDID) complies with WHTI. States such as New York issue ENDIDs to applicants who can prove U.S. citizenship and NYS residency.

NOTE: The EDL and the ENDID are not valid for international air travel.

Visit www.cbp.gov for more information on the Enhanced Driver's License (EDL).

What Documents Count as REAL ID?

Your current driver’s license may or may not be a REAL ID. Take a look at your license; if you see a star in the top corner of your license, that means it is a REAL ID license.

A number of other documents can also be used as REAL ID. A valid US passport book or passport card can be used as REAL ID, as can valid passports from foreign countries. Permanent Resident Cards, Trusted Traveler cards, and valid US military IDs also count as REAL ID. Enhanced Driver’s Licenses, which demonstrate US citizenship, can be used for REAL ID purposes.

At issue is state compliance with the 2005 REAL ID Act, which requires states to meet minimum security requirements for their state-issued ID cards such as driver’s licenses. Some states, such as California, received an extension on complying with the rule. And the Department of Homeland Security granted airline passengers a waiver to continue to use their IDs from the non-compliant states past the Jan. 10 deadline.

State-issued driver’s licenses and identification cards from Illinois, New Mexico, Missouri, Washington and Minnesota can no longer be used to obtain a visitor’s pass because those cards don’t comply with federal standards, officials said. DoD officials did not say whether or not enhanced driver's licenses (EDL) from Minnesota or Washington would still be accepted.

Accepted forms of identification for granting a base visitor’s pass include a U.S. passport, any official ID card from any of the compliant states, Native American tribal documents and any Defense Department or federal ID card. VA identification cards, however, are not accepted, officials said.

    GOES Card

Global Entry is a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) program that allows expedited clearance for pre-approved, low-risk travelers upon arrival in the United States. Members enter the United States through automatic kiosks at select airports.

    HAZMAT FAQ
Do applicants with HMEs have to repeat the STA if they are applying for TWICs?

No. Applicants who apply for a TWIC do not have to pay the full price for the TWIC STA if they apply successful clearance results from their most recent HME STA, and as a result, the fee for the TWIC is reduced by $22.75. All TWIC applicants must pay the fees that cover the other components of the TWIC program, including enrollment and card issuance. Applicants are always offered the option to apply for a full-fee TWIC STA if they determine it is more cost effective to do so.
