Hello,
New to the site. I am having an issue with the high side of my Eaton Fuller RTO 14613 (used), 13 speed. The high side will not engage. Initially it was still operating as a 8speed where I had to flip the splitter and the high/low to engage the high gears. I had it swapped in coming from a Eaton fuller 8LL. Same engine, Cummins L10 300. Is it a bad transmissions or bad install. I'm hoping it's something overlooked like hose shifter air hoses not connected properly and not a bad transmission that has to be taken back out. Maybe a synchroniser. This is becoming a pain. Reason being this was my initial reason for replacing it. ANY, I MANY ANY ADVICE IS WELCOMED.
THANKS.
Transmission High Side not engaging.

When you hit the splitter, sdo you hear any air at the knob? If not probably air hose not connected to trans. If not, there is some sort of solenoid mounted outside of trans that controls that shift. I have no idea what the heck it’s called but someone while chime in shortly. Sounds like it’s just one of those issues. No big deal
Oxbow and TruckDrivin04 Thank this. -
Did they replace the shift knob? LL and OD knobs are different.
Oxbow Thanks this. -
I was told it could be the air hoses or the syncroniser in the back of the transmission. Is this a the issue or one of many possibilities.

Before you go to getting into the back of the transmission, follow your lines and make sure nothing is kinked and nothing is leaking. Check the lines that run from the shifter to the transmission. As the other person said, make sure you have the right shifter on there that it's for a13 speed and not an 8ll.
Check the lines also that run to the side of the transmission. The Hi-Lo splitter has an air operated valve there that could be bad, so you may have to replace that first and try. I don't think that valve is very expensive.
I bought a truck a few years ago that would not shift into high range. I replaced that valve, the lines the run from the back of the transmission to the valve, and the air (filter?) on the back end. It shifted like a champ after that.BoxCarKidd Thanks this. -
There is a downloadable manual on google that has trouble shooting guide in it. Lets start at the top, a 13spd shift knob has a red splitter button , trace these lines down to the fittings on the trans. The manual will have the airline diagram in it, make sure all of these are in the correct position and not kinked or leaking. There will be one that is not hooked to anything and that is the vent. Make sure there is not air leaking around the knob itself, these knobs are not to big of deal to work on but if you do not like tiny o-rings and springs a new generic knob can be purchased for under $100 if yours has a problem. Next, there are some large rubber hoses that look like they are running all over the place on the trans, they are no big deal either. Check the manual and it will have a diagram for these also, check them out to make sure they haven't been switched. Next on the back of the trans there is a regulator, on top of the regulator there is a nut I believe is 1 1/2 inch socket , doing this from memory, it is right on top and what it is , is a big cap with a filter underneath of it inside a small well. Remove the cap and pull out the filter. if you are not near a dealer to get a new one spend some time with some brake cleaner and clean it up real good and put it back it. Try out those few things first before you tear into anything else. If you need to switch the spaghetti lines look at the fittings real close , on the newer ones you will have to push the sleeve down that the line goes into , once you have that pushed down hold it down and pull the line out. On the big rubber ones only one end will have a swivel fitting for removel they can be a pain. On my 18spd the filter was plugged up so after cleaning that it worked fine, if that little filter is plugged up and you clean it better check your air dryer to find out whats up. I can go on and on with the diagnostics but start with these things first and download the manual. Let me know , if this does work I will continue on.

I have this problem after a Super 10 install. Not engaging on high side 7-9, I was told there are lines crossed. I have changed air dryer and governor. Lines switched around, and either I have correct air pressure and sleeper air bags and no shifter, or shifter and losing air pressure down to 60.
Help -
I have a super 10 Eaton fuller and it’s stuck in high gear and I can hear air leaking from a value underneath on the transmission but after I drive about 30 minutes it will let me shift from low to high and the air leaks stop what could it be
