    hi,
We are small fleet with 4 trucks and looking for tracking device for trailers and one that cost less, because alot of times trailers are loaded and parked in the yard over the weekend.

I seen one at radioshack this week it's $12 a month but have to buy the device for about $100, i'm not sure on the battery life on it.

    Any recommendation would be appreciated.

http://www.trackwhatmatters.com/products/asset-gps-tracking-device/advanced-trailer-tracking The battery in it last 3 years.

http://www.prolificx.com/PCLTag-track-trailer This one operates when the trailer is hooked to a tractor and the pigtail is plugged in. That's all you need because you know the last event when it's dropped or picked up.

http://www.morsegps.com/ This one you pay for airtime packages. eg. 2000 hits over 3 years $125.

    and many many more

Not sure if you have reefer trailers, but this is what the company I drive for uses. http://www.startrak.com/

It tracks the location of the trailer along with reefer temp, fuel level, alarms, etc. They are also able to change reefer settings remotely.

Probably not the cheapest of options, don't know if they have anything that does just GPS tracking.

I called all these and most of the require tractor to be hooked up and provide electrical current to be turned on. I'm looking for battery powered where if trailer moves out of my safe spot i should get alert that some activity is happening and i can verify it's one of my driver or a theft.

I'd have to look to see what I have but it was $380 for five years than you can update or pay like $100 for two more years. I've had mine for two years now soon as you plug the trailer in it's live and can even tell how fast it's being pulled

I don't want the one that will turn on if it's plugged in, because if someone will steal the trailer i can't rely on them plugging the electrical wire in, trailer can move with just releasing breaks lol. I'm looking for something that can tell me if the trailer is moved out of the yard and alert me especially on the weekend because we don't have security guard there.

I wired one of mine with a battery but it only last about a week without plugging it in again.

I run air-IQ on my trucks it's the only one I found you can track your miles in each state.
