Picked up one of these for a backup to the chain holding a spare wheel in place that I sometimes find in disrepair beneath trailers. I'll just have to try putting this around there while I'm moving them (and report the issue when I'm done).

Looks like the rack ahead of the wheels in this pic. Haven't found a user manual for it yet (I think one trailer had a sticker indicating what strength chain was required).

Seriously that safety chain does not belong to a semi truck trailer it is for RVs Boat cargo trailers to keep the hitch from digging into the ground when it comes off the ball

I know, it looks about the same size and seems to have a pretty good working load for one wheel (at least better than a worn down and rusted one that's too short). I'll have to see if the trailer sticker gave specifics on chain specs too, or what the standard was on it. Just a wild guess, but if the one under there wore out, it must be taking a beating. Wouldn't want to roll without one that's intact.

No actually between the lug nut torque wrench thread and now this one ,it's quite clear who's nuts.
But if anything, it's giving us all something to laugh at and that's not a bad thing.

A piece of dog chain from your local wal mart would be sufficient .. it's not like it is a load bearing chain , just keeps the spare from sliding out of the holder

A grade 8 chain may make stealing your tire harder.

Even a bungee cord is acceptable for securing a tire in the rack. The rack itself is angled, so the object is to just keep the tire from bouncing out. No measurement strength is listed in DOT or FMCSA standards for this application.

A bungee cord is not acceptable for securing ANYTHING. But rope is.
