    hey Guys,
I need some advise on trailer registration.

I am newbie based out of California, I have my own truck for about 6 months running from California to Midwest. I was renting a trailer, but I just bought a dry van trailer last week from big-trucking carrier . It's 2002 and got a good deal on it , Now they sent me a pink slip since i paid cash for it.

The trailer doesn't have a license plate. I am thinking when i register they will give me a plate.

I'm not sure what would be the best way to register this trailer, I'm assuming it works differently then a truck registration.

Should i go to california- dmv and pay the sales tax and register for 1 year or is there any other way to save the sales tax because I travel to other states.

I didn't pay any sales tax on my truck because my dealer made paperwork for outofstate delivery which was good. I don't know about trailer ?

Also does trailer registration works like a car that we need to renew every year or is it different ?

-While looking online i came across 'Board of Equalization tax exemption for the trailer.' BOE-106 tax exemption.. Not sure what this is

Thanks for your guys guidance and support.

All I can tell ya is TN trailer is permanent. Pay once and it's forever.

Not sure if you can rent a biz address here, get a tag and then ski-daddle back to Kalipornya with your forever tag.

Here in Washington you can get a permanent registration plate on the trailer. I've had the same plates on my trailers since 1989. If you have a valid MC number you should be exempt from the sales tax as long as 25% of your business is out of state.

Maine same way. Several services in Maine will rent you an address, do all the paperwork etc. Get one plate , one time.
