I didnt not separate. My thought well on that one.

Yes its required and have legal right to stop you.

Yes they can stop you for non required lights in operable.

Sorry for improper communication on that one.

They don’t need any reason at all to pull you over other then you’re on a commercial vehicle.

Correct, All I ever say is to give them less of a reason. If they are on the unit, makesure the work. If not take them off, if your not gonna maintain the extra lights. I like all the chicken lights it looks good. But for my own equipment it's legal required and functional.

Ok well you can't have enough brake lights.

I finally got our fleets tag lights all fixed.. since few others gave a Rats As*.
Now, I'm embroiled in getting all of the ABS systems working.

The lights are either burnt out... or ON.. or someone has cut the wires.. or just unplugged it altogether.

I love it when the bring them in and just leave it for the next guy.

    Its usually me.

Like has been said already, it gives the roving trooper one less thing to catch his eye on your rig and decide it warrants further investigation. I've been patching a few up here and there myself. If it takes me 10 minutes in a rest area or at pre-trip to sort out, but keeps me off the radar, it's time well spent.

Can we please stop with urban myth? If it is required, it must work, if it is not, it needn't. It is required to to have a light that illuminates the license plate. You put on a magnetic light, just like you would on a towed vehicle, it illuminates the license plate. End of story. Screenshot_20191026-195131_Chrome.jpg

Possibly if you have 20 chicken lights and several are burnt out, but if none of them work? How will they know that they don't work? Further, you've got to be doing something majorly wrong to be pulled over at night! I can not see any LEO pulling over a truck for only a non-essential light not working.

License plate light needs to work. Taillights need to work. Extra clearance lights don't, and I don't see them bothering to pull over a truck for only that.

We are issued 2 plates here, and the tabs are required in writing to be put on the back one, the dot ask us to put them on the front so they can see them when we stop before pulling on to the scales. Mine goes on the back, just like the written law ask us to do. lol Then my plate is on the headache rack behind the chains right under the chain hanger. lol

I was pulled over in Az once for my chicken lights under the doors not being on. I was in my T800 that I rarely drove, and had forgotten all about them being on a seperate switch.

How would they know they're not on? If it's at night, do you see lights that aren't on?
