what does it cost to license, say a 45' flatebed or 53' dry van semi trailer? Just curious, see so many sitting around in preload lots etc.....

Never you mind those preload lots. Preloading is a battle proven strategy so you get to sleep in tomorrow knowing you are already loaded. -
Each state is different. My state charges less than $100 for a permanent plate. Some states require owners to purchase tags more frequently.

I think Maine is roughly around $100 for 5 years. Easy to register there

Just bought a new trailer Friday. License and title fee in Missouri $67. That's permanent plates, no renewal required. If you do it renewal each year I believe it's around $16 a year.

Not sure if this applies elsewhere, but California "permanent" plates are only good for 5 years.
