I got a weld job where I am welding a Kingpin to a new plate and the plate to the trailer and I would like to know if there is a min/max as to the height of the kingpin in reference to the fifth wheel. The previous plate was a FUBAR job and we were hired to gut the old plate and kingpin and install new.

    Thanks,
    The Squids

Google search Holland TF-0110. They make a nice height and wear gauge.

Think you need to take a look at the height of the riser on the 5th wheel in relationship to the king pin instead of kingpin height. I believe that all kingpins are the same size. Height comes from the 5th wheel. I had to put a higher riser on my truck when I purchased it. It was a shorter riser for a tanker (I have a midroof) and I was pulling van. Company required a higher 5th wheel height.
