Just wanted to remind you that wheel seals should be completed in 1 hour tops.

Can you you see a gap between drum an shoe, was there a fire in the wheel bearings before you started??

Never seen anyone pull a hub without removing the spindle nut. Perhaps a manual might be a good place to start?

The way you are talking about having the brakes caged it makes me wonder are you talking about the brake drum, or the actual hub assembly?... If you are trying to separate the drum from the hub you can use a 4 pound sledge to hit the drum between the wheel studs (carefully as not to hit the studs themselves) to loosen the drum from the hub. You may have to hit the drum rather hard and repeatedly in multiple spot but it will loosen then you can pull it off by hand. If it is the hub that is stuck in not sure what would be holding it without seeing it myself... Never had a problem once I had response but off, unless the bearings got smoked really bad and welded everything together.... Hope this is of some help.

You need a BFH tool to get it off. Not a specialty tool, any tool store or even Lowe's carries them. Hell stop your local MAC of Snap on truck and you can get a really expensive BFH tool

What kind of hub? Semi trailer is vague. If this is an old inboard drum, you need to knock the studs out to get the drum off.
