Ok, so in my case it sounds like the check valve may be stuck open. I don’t hear any leaks but the tank needs to fill every time.

I'm not sure what kind of valve you have. Sealco valves are common and you can buy a cartridge for them that usually fixes them right up in 10-15 minutes. No need to remove the valve. Bendix SR5 valves are also common and I just replace them. New ones are about $70.HopeOverMope and lilillill Thank this. -

If your spring brakes are not releasing, it's a fairly simple diagnosis. The spring brake release valve is the only thing between the red supply line and the spring side of the chambers. Check air at each point until you find where it's not coming through. It could be a blockage inside the valve.
