    Got a 2011 Reitnouer Flatbed.

Stop to check my load at Monteagle Tennessee yesterday.

Got back in my truck to move it pulled up about a foot and a airbag blew out on my front axle trailer?

Never have had that happen before kind of still perplexed about what could have caused that?

My two questions are how hard would it be for me to change out the airbag?

Second question is I know with age they deteriorate but I'm still kind of trying to figure out what would have caused that airbag blowout just sitting there and pulling up??

Pretty easy job. Disconnect the air to the blown bag and plug the line. Use the other 3 bags to raise the trailer. Remove the old bag, install the new bag, then let the air out of the other bags and unplug the line before connecting the air. Done.

...and yes, airbags can and do blow out like that. I had one where I had just loaded, pulled out of the silo, parked, got out of the cab to go get my paperwork and walked about 5 steps before it let go. Boom.

    Age. They crack and deteriorate.
I'd highly recommend changing them all.

    Cut a old airbag open.
While the outside looks good, inside layer off rubber and woven threads will most likely be cracked.
    Easy to change a airbag.

Just did 4 bags on my tactor. They were dry rotted at the bottom and kept losing air when I parked. Not hard to do with proper tools.

Just blew one on my super b a few months ago, cost me just over $600 to get it changed on the road, and took the guy three hours.
The next weekend I looked at the rest and saw they were cracking. So for $1,300 I changed the other nine myself. I averaged one hour per bag.
You just need some fittings to bypass a bag or two and air up the other bags to get the clearance to remove them.
I used the air from the truck to run a 3/4” air impact to bust loose the mounting studs.

Wise to grab part numbers off your drives and trailer axles and carry a spare of each. Easier than changing out a tire and beats a tow.
