I don't know of any trick to make the ABS light blink BUT I sure as heck wouldn't drive around with it illuminated all day long>that's just an invitation for an inspection,

if your truck got digital dashboard, use diagnostic menu, find MID 137 (trailer barake ECU, ABS ore EBS system) and post faul codes (MID 137 SID/PIDXXX FMIXXX) and I can easily tell you waht is wrong. If you have older ABS systems you can find LED on brake ECU. But identify brake ECU first.

Unfortunatly if your truck got trailer ABS/EBS cabel w/o datalink/CAN, you cant read trailer fault codes from dashboard.

What truck and what year you have?

If its a Bendix system hears what to do
1 With the truck pigtail plugged into the trailer turn the key on and wait 10 seconds or so for the system to cycle.
    2. Unplug the pigtail and plug it back in. Now you have 15 seconds to do the next step.
3 Standing on the out side of the truck press the break peddle down (by hand) for 1 second and release 3 times. This will cause the ABS light to blink the active codes.
4 To read inactive codes repeat step 2 and 3 BUT press the peddle down 4 times.
5 To clear all codes repeat step 2 and 3 BUT press the peddle down 5 times.

    roshea Thanks this.

Bendix is really Knorr Bremse ABS, may easily be tested with Knorr ECU Talk software.

But I can see many trailers with Haldex, Wabco Vario ABS (blink codes only), VCS (with led on ECU, blink codes, K-L diagnostica and 1587 Datalink), and VCS-II (from 2003) with KWP ore J1587 datalink only (no blinks).

I see Haldex with bulleye and with Data center you can use to read codes.

Ouh, Knorr loves install TIM - it is a small box with buttons and LCD. It may used to read codes too.

    Anyway start identifing system first!
