I didn't have a problem trading in my last truck, but I think the key now a days is to have some of the warranty still left on it like I did.

They don't take trade in's because they don't want it. A 600,000 mile emission truck is like a bushel basket of rotting fish in the hot sun to them. Just wholesale it and prepare yourself for a beating. If you have the title just be honest with yourself about what it is worth.

Usually any of the big dealers will take your trade especially if buying new truck, but trade-in will be wholesale value of course. I traded my first (and last) volvo in to freightliner 3 yrs ago, with like 580k miles, but it had 13 spd, 780 big sleeper, apu, cummins, that was in-demand used truck at the time for some reason, so i actually got decent trade money for it.
But like Sealevel above wrote, are a lot of those trucks out there. I think the emissions problems are what scared all the buyers away.
Another suggestion, try to keep that truck forever, repairing and maintaining it will keep more money in your pocket. Like the old days, spec and buy one truck, run it for whole career of like 30-40 yrs. You'll be rich. I'm on truck six, so the bankers have made a fortune off me over the yrs.

They're not willing to take your truck at all. Or they're not offering you what you believe you should get?

Heck, a dealer took my 09 Pro Star with 1.2M miles. Didn't get much, but it was enough.

If dealers don't want your truck at all, it's because they don't want to do business with you. They're just using the trade in as an excuse.

Just keep the old truck! ( a 2012? sheeesh) Nobody wants it, there's farm fields full of trucks like yours. Again, what's wrong with the old truck? I've driven Freightliners with Detroits that had almost a million miles. IDK, I did it different.

All dealers seem to want trade ins, you need to buy a truck to get that to happen.

By the way, you do know that they will give you a wholesale price for that truck, so why don't you sell it yourself?

I left some important information out I dont own the truck, I still owe the bank 28k. Im sick of the repairs I have about 20k into it this year not included down time. I feel like it's a sinking ship im ready to jump.
My new question is if a dealership will take what i owe and put it on the back side of my new load? Thanks for all your response very helpful.
