I've never heard of this but please link any threads you know of it's been discussed.

I've had a lot of campers (too big or a pain to work on on the road) so I've always kept top tier AAA for breakdown and towing service. One use has made it worth it for a few years and it has other perks, at least for cars. You get up to 3 tows a year. I'm always prepared but it's a fall back worth paying the couple hundred a year for, even more for my wife than me.

Is there anything like this, a discount at least, for OTR trucks? I'm pretty skeered as a new O/O about a multi-thousand dollar tow bill to a multi-thousand dollar repair sidelining me. Yes I wrench on my own stuff to a degree. I'm new to running my own tractor though.

I have a Pilot fuel card, TA/Petro card and soon to have Love's express but not sure if their roadside discounts cover any towing.

I just got a notice from jb hunt they have something if you are a carrier of theirs. I think it's $489 a year. My insurance though progressive has something in it about towing. I would be have to look it up. If you have your own insurance you may want to ask about it.

If you break down in Ny. In a snow storm they tow you off the highway for free. Had that happen once. Once your off the highway it's your money.

I have Progressive. Good idea, they seem so send me something almost every day. Maybe I should read some of it.

$500/yr. is no joke! I wonder if that fully covers a tow or two?

I have my insurance through Great West. They have choice plus for less than $200 year. Towing, truck rental, hotel for driver, covers some roadside repairs vanishing deductibles and some other things. Very happy have used it once. Just sent the tow bill in and got a check a few days later.

@86scotty - different insurance carriers have different levels of extra coverages/discounts they offer. Some O/O's like to have some money set aside for breakdown/towing/glass/etc.

Typical Towing coverage options, for example, may include a $100 allowance for a tow incident and the next level up may be $300 or $500 allowance per incident. Anything above the allowance limit would be out of pocket. Be mindful though - Excessive use of towing incidents would most likely drive your premium up.
