I was on a call where the right front wheel and tire where gone, the car was in a front end accident. Disc brake rotor on the asphault. The car is a 2008 Mustang GT and low to the ground and without rim very low. I am looking for some feed back on the best way to get it on a flat bed tow truck

I'd say put the donut on there. If that doesn't work then just pull it on the ramp.not to much u can do with a situation like this and the car is already damaged
-
Sorry I didnt mention no spare and did not want to damage car anymore since a insurance adjuster had already estimated. I was towing it to the body shop -
Hmmmm well only other option is to use another donut from somewhere else our use a different style wrecker

None takin. But you just answered your own question.you could try resting the rotor on a 2x4 or a piece of plywood maybe

Toe dolly. rent one from Uhaul

I drove a tow truck for years (sling type, not Flat bed) and there were times that there was going to be additional damage just trying to recover the vehicle. Like a vehicle over a small wall, for instance. Other than lifting it out with a crane, it had to come out the way it went in. Jack up the Mustang, put a 4x4 long ways under the A-arm and pull it onto the bed slowly. That way, the spindle is off the ground. Or locate a spare tire and mount it for the tow.

If the car is already down on the rotor and involved in the wreck, the item should be slated for repair and replacement.
Just pull it onto the wrecker. -
I find it hard to believe that a tow driver is asking this question.
Every tow driver I know would have the car on the truck and be gone before you could finish typing the question.
The only use of any lumber would be to keep the suspension from catching on the lip of the bed when loading or to keep from gouging up the bed.
A polyethylene ramp block is perfect for a skid block to save the truck.
Screw the wrecked car, save the truck.
Any adjuster estimate prior to teardown is only a preliminary possibly to decide a total or not.
A repair estimate is not complete until a teardown has been done to fully evaluate and discover hidden damage.Last edited: Oct 9, 2010
