So I was talking to a buddy about setting up something to run my 3/4 impact off the truck for swapping tires and rims when I get a flat on the road. He said he thought he saw one time a toque multiplier made just for that. Of course he cant remember where or what it was. So I am wondering if you guys have seen such a thing. I think even $500-$700 would be worth it the first time I used it on the road. Hopefully I dont sound nuts asking this.

I bought a similar one of Ebay. It works great. I bought it when I had my 4wd F-800 and broke and bent everything trying to get the lug bolts loose. I exploded my 3/4" drive Proto ratchet with a cheater pipe. This gadget took them off without any effort. I had my daugther try it and she was able to do it too.

Here is an Ebay link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Torque-Mult...007?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27d0ccac9f

I hope the link is allowed. If not do a search on Ebay.

The real one is called an X 12 wrench. Its worth every penny. The first time you use it it will pay for itself.

The torque multiplier will do the job. My question is do you really have the strength, stamina and time to be do tire replace/repairs on the road. With the exception of a front axle, just limp into the nearest truckstop/tire joint. Carry a spare so they don't kill you on the price, or sign up for a national account with any of the major tire manufacturer to control the cost.

I do all work on my trucks and equipment myself. It takes no time or effort to change rims with hub pilot wheels. It will take 10 minutes to change a blown tire, a service truck would take 30 minutes at least.

Thanks for the info. I got one ordered today so I will see how it works when I get it.

I will say that with a long handled ratchet my 13 year old son can take the lug nuts off a truck. When you put them back on all you need is a torque wrench to tighten them back down. I carry an X 12 , torque wrench, 2 bottle jacks, and a couple of blocks and they have saved me thousands. Had a rear wheel seal go out a while back. Took me about two hours in the Petro parking lot but it got fixed for just the price of the seal.

Anyone heard about something called the Cheater Wrench? I was looking at torque multipliers and found a million generic ones on ebay and don't feel comfortable going for something like that. Only name brand one I could find with a decent site (and lifetime warranty) was Cheater Wrench, but does anyone have one? Worth it? I looked up the X12 and it's pretty expensive, wondering if lower cost option works.

Truck World in Hubbard, Ohio (I-80) sells them. They are definitely worth it.
