Most LTL companies will offer similar pay and benefits. The difference arises in cost of benefits and/or work rules at a specific company. Expect at least $22/hr for P&D work and mid 50's to mid 60 cpm on mileage pay. Some outfits pay time and a half after 40, 45, 50 hours per week, some carriers like R&L pay no overtime at all.

    Estes
    Saia
    Old Dominion
    UPS Freight
    Pitt Ohio
    Dayton Freight
    YRC
    R&L
    ABF

These are all LTL carriers that will likely offer decent pay and hometime (every day or every other day).

Thanks for the help man! I'm well aware that Dayton Freight, Saia, Pitt Ohio, and Estes are generally the better companies all around but I really wanted to hear it from someone with past experience. I should've mentioned that in the post too.

There's a guy on here that works for Dayton Freight, he speaks highly of them. I'm betting he'll be along to answer any specific questions you may have about that outfit. I'm a Union guy, but I'd go to Dayton if something ever happened at my job. Just my 2 cents.

I work for Dayton. LTL is a good gig if you want to be home and make good money and benefits.

@Bob Dobalina can go in to specifics, but most LTL linehaul moves at night and P&D runs during the day.

City (P&D) drivers work days, starting between 7 and 10am according to seniority and top out at $25.30/hr right now with overtime after 40 hrs. Linehaul drivers start at 9pm and top out at $0.63/mile. That's what I do and I gotta go to bed!

The drivers I know do a dedicated drop & hook every night and back home. They drive day cabs. Don't know how the pay breaks down.
