I have read a lot of info here about TMC. I met a recruiter at school who was professional but when I called the company to ask questions about orientation the guy I talked to was arrogant and unprofessional.
Which speaks volumes about the company and backs up what a lot of people say on the fourm. Its well known that at least 50 percent who show up at orientation do not make it and it is not always their fault. I would love a conversation with the CEO. If you take some dedicated people that are not "TMC" material and train them to your standard you will have long term commitment. A large portion of the people who get through orientation do not make it with trainers.
There is a training and statistic issues here and TMC is wasting a lot of money.

I joined TMC after driving school and I have been with them for 1 year. First off if u want to be employed by TMC you must want and enjoy to work hard inside and outside the truck. In other words you must be willing to bust your ### during the work week. I have an outstanding fleet manager and that counts alot. You can deliver 4-5 loads per week if you stay focused and keep running hard. Your gross will be better than you think. Take care of your truck throughly to avoid having to go to the terminal for repairs. This will mess up your moneyflow horribly. It's a lot of RESPONSIBILITY in trucking period so stay focused and stay on top of everything. Laziness will wreck your career. Watch your health closely. Exercise 2-3 times a week. It will help you out in flatbed trucking. If you go out of your way for TMC, TMC will go out of their way for you, trust I know first hand. TMC is a great company in my opinion.
Quietriot6960 Thanks this. -
Unless you don't fit their chart for height and weight. Then it doesn't matter how dedicated or good you are, TMC doesn't want to know you. I think its sad that a company will dump a 10 year employee because he put on a couple too many pounds. And they don't just fire him, that would take courage and a spine, no they bring him in and fail him on his medical so now the guy who was a great asset to the company for 10 years can't get a job because he lost his medical.
Don't get me wrong Nyteryda, I hope everything works out for you. Just watch your back and keep your eyes open. Don't let them blind u with that shiney chrome. -
Then that wouldn't be that they didn't want him, but just another way for a trucking to screw over a good driver.
These trucking companies always sit there and wonder why turnover is so bad. My advice to them is look in the mirror first & you will see what the problem is.
Yes there are some bad drivers but there are plenty of decent hard working drivers who are sick & tired of these co's screwing around & then playing stupid. -
Good, Bad or indifferrent. A company will always look out for the best interest of itself!

Alright everyone, I'm new to the forum and came here to seek out information, advice, tips, or whatever other information those with experience have to offer. I have a couple Uncles who drive over the road, so I have a good taste of what the truck driver lifestyle is, some of the sacrifices and drawbacks along with the perks. Yes, I'm a "wannabe" truck driver, I have been since I was 7 years old. Obviously I've read through some of this thread and there's enough information here to make my head spin, so it seems like a perfect place to ask some TMC related questions. First off, I wanted to ask if anyone knows just how strict the "23 years old" age requirement policy is. I'll be starting training from a school that TMC recruits from, although they can't answer on how strict TMC enforces this requirement. I've heard from several people that TMC has hired some who didn't meet that requirement, but they weren't from sources that I would find as totally reliable. So, if anyone could answer that, it'd be greatly appreciated!

if its not changed you have a 6 mo window on age. I drove 8 mo for TMC check out my posts and if you still have questions let me know. And good luck

Thanks flatbedder. I actually just turned 21 in April, so looks like I'll be starting my career elsewhere. Seeing some of the posts you have made about what TMC has put you through, it's probably a good thing that I will be starting elsewhere! I may check into Bowman as they're looking for flatbed drivers nearby. Thanks again, and good luck in your future journeys!

I think the government should put TMC out of business so fat people can feel better about their lack of self decipline!
It has to be someone elses fault.Sourdough and bigtimepeter Thank this. -
Any driver just out of school with his first company wouldn't know if he has a good deal or not. Check back in 15 or 20 yrs when you dry out behind one ear....
