    Hello friends,

I have a kenworth with a 2012 Cummins isx and an Eaton automatic transmission.

Wether I’m driving it in auto or manual, my wheels lock when they don’t catch grip and slip on either snow or mud. To “unlock them” I have to pump the brakes, put in neutral and then back into gear.

however, when I’m reversing and they slip it never locks.

Went to mechanics and they said they don’t understand why. If anyone can help please let me know.

This is your traction control system working.
It only works in forward gears.
It works by applying the brake to any wheel that spins, using the ABS system. Most (if not all) trucks have a switch that will shut off this system.
    Kenworth T660 Dash / Console Switch .
If you shut the TCS down if you are moving in a yard where traction is marginal due to mud,ice or even potholes this will allow you to move easier. At road speeds the effect will be almost unnoticeable but will reduce spin-out during poor road conditions. Try pushing the TCS button at the gate of the yard and reactivating the system as you leave the yard.
