Bought a tire tread gauge however it has 3 different 32nds increments. Which one do I go off of?

you just turn it to get the right reading. If you look it is 30/32 on one side then 31/32 on the next and so on.

Sorry no pull out the needle looking part then push it in the tread till the "T" part hits the top of tread. Then look to see which reading is just above the round chrome part. The reading that is closest to that is your depth. I suck at typing explanations hope that helped.

If you look closely the 3 increments are not at the same spot. Each is for a different tread depth. If it measures between the two you round down.

Lead tires (steering tires, converter dollies for semi-trailers and steer axles on full trailers ) must have at least 4/32s tread depth at any point on any major groove except where tread wear indicators or stone ejectors are located. All other tires must have 2/32s inch in every major groove of the tire.

    PE_T and Lepton1 Thank this.
