Would over the counter tire plug kit work for fixing flat tire in the road with semi truck tire or it wont be effective for such large tire @100 psi internal pressure?

Yes it will work. I go to napa and get the good ones.

If its a screw or nail repair the plugs work fine. For bigger things like bolts they are borderline. Should really be taken off and have a boot put in to fix properly.

I use plugs all the time. Never had a failure yet. Tire shops dont like them or condone them as they stand to loose a lot money with guys doing there own flat repairs.

    mitmaks Thanks this.

Anything is better than getting stranded beside the road. Two risks with a plug; if its not done properly it can blow out with high pressure. (100 psi versus 35 for a car tire) Also there is a risk of damaging the inner liner of the tire as you shove the plug in from the outside. It can split the area around the hole and cause internal leaks. I would definitely do it to get back home but then repair it properly ASAP.

Always plugged with regular sized plugs, never had one come out. I have had one get a small leak before and it was on edge of tread close to sidewall.

I usually pick up a new tire and throw it on there. Toss the flat in as a trade. They prefer me to do that at the shop where they have a whole room full of new tires to throw on me. I cannot remember the last time I had a hole that mattered. Except one time I fought with a fire hydrant and lost. That one stabbed a two inch hole in one of my tires blew it clean out. But the hydrant lost a little too once I pulled it off with some power.
