I am looking at buying my first set of tires and been looking at Yokohama Ty517 mc2 and considering the Michelin x line multi energy D. Are the Michelin worth the extra price?
Tire choice, are Michelins worth the extra cost?

Because of my situation I ended up going with Goodyear 399 steers after I said I would never run them again because of past experience. I've learned about proper tire care (most drivers, fleet mechanics, & tire people don't know these things) I'm very happy with my Goodyear steers.
I have since bought 4 Goodyear 572 drives that are wearing well. I'm fixing to buy 4 more.
You will get a lot of different opinions on this subject. -
Steers or drives?
I run Goodyear on steers, g395 lhs, little pricey, but worth it on steers.
Drives I run Yokohama, can't remember brand except load rating h. 6610 per tire rating. -
After rStewart, think my steers are 399, doing well at 50K even after I replaced kingpins and cupped one. Wearing true again.
Even considering Goodyear for drives next go. Never run recaps as an owner. Damage that can happen on a blowout out, out weights extra cost for virgin rubber.RStewart Thanks this. -
Drive tires. I run flatbed in a 500 mile radius. Wanting some low rolling resistance tires with decent life. Ran the 399 before and now trying the general s371.

Don't know if it is luck or what, but I've got Michelins all around on the truck for the first time, and, well, nothing. No shakes. No shimmies. No funny wear patterns anywhere. 120,000 on the steers, and nothing funny. 100,000 on the drives running 90K in the PNW, and nothing funny. No heel-toe wear. Nothing.
I'm still going off brand on the trailer, as a 10' triaxle excels at rubbing off rubber, but I think I've converted to the Michelin is worth it camp on the tractor.....RStewart Thanks this. -
These are the gold standard for drives with guys around me....
To rich for me tho.....RStewart Thanks this. -
