yea went to my cdl school orientation today and showed a 10 minute video on warner and pictures of the trucks they give you and inside pics had a small tv, fridge.. Doubt that comes standard in any of the trucks.. BUT overall if you wanted any of that, it would only take you a few runs to be able to buy a fridge and tv to put in your truck.. a rumor I heard is with the qualcomm satillite, its compatible with dish tv service "dish network, direct tv" that would be a cool thing to have and kinda smart if you look at it, you can have access to local weather from local news channels and the weather channel to help you prepair for the road ahead.. and it is possible to get high speed internet installed on a truck as well, "huges net" and others now its just a rumor, best bet is to talk to your dispatcher or the shop guys..

Well they filled you full of it. The Quallcomm does not give you satillite T.V. of anykind. Trucks donot come withe fridges or T.V.'s. Internet is all up to you to pay for.

You contradict yourself . You say drivers cannot be expected to stay up more than 14 hours but you say the split sleeper should be allowed . Dispatchers took advantage of the split sleeper to get drivers to work more than 14 hours . How mny 2 or 3 hour logged sleeper breaks were actually spent loading or unloading ?
You can play with your log books and make as many copies as you want but you can only turn 1 set of logs in to your safety department . If your carrier is audited you will be caught .
With CSA 2010 more carriers will be doing self audits . The days of fudging log books are coming to an end .

My carrier switched from Qualcomm to Blackberrys . I have The Weather Channel , my hometown tv station website and many others downloaded on the browser . I don't have to be tied to the truck to get load messages .

I like the Blackberry idea. Does your company text your load info, or most of your info to you? I like that idea, then when your away from the truck you can still get work info.

Yeah they e-mail a load offer then if we hit the scroll button it will accept it . It then automatically advances to the next macro - begin move , arrive shipper , depart shipper , etc . We don't have to enter things we used to have to on the Qualcomm like weights , fuel stops , etc .
There's a ton of other info on the Blackberry - mileage for the last 6 months , a record of fuel stops , all my renewal dates for physical , license , hazmat certification , etc .
They send messages on the Blackberry and we almost never use the cell phone .

there is kinda a downfall to the blackberry "this may even apply to the qualcomm" that if your in the mountains and need to recieve or send out messages with the blackberry "or quallcomm" you maybe be sol due to lack if signal...

    Hey IROC..

Are all the truck choices you mentioned Canada load capable? I remember when I drove for Werner in '02/'03 that since I had a clean driving record (no dui's etc) I got tons of Canada loads because I had the right truck. So I guess if you dont want to go across the border (a real pain) get a truck that cant go...
