So seeing as it's a Dispatcher's job to dispatch calls and make sure the deliveries/pick ups go out to the drivers. My questions is what things can be done to keep your dispatch happy with you while staying on their good side? I figure the happier they are with you the better the calls you receive may be?? I don't want to the be the "butt kissing keener" but I also don't want to be handed all the job that no one else wants (I do understand that as a new driver I also have to pay my dues) But if I could stand out over and above another driver that may be lazy or unenthusiastic about their job then all the better for me
The company I will be driving for is not a large one so I don't see them have lots of dispatchers. I do know they have the satellite system (Qualcomm?).
Tips for keeping your dispatcher happy with you.?

I'd say a good tip is do what they ask you to do. I've learned to do exactly as I'm asked. No more, no less. Even if it doesn't make sense to me even if there is a better way just do what they want.

Be pleasant on the phone and on the qualcom.
Be quick to get to your point. Sometimes they enjoy a quick chat, sometimes there are 8 calls waiting on them.
I don't mind doing what some might call sucking up. I call it being friendly. My wife makes a killer toffee, chocolate coated. And she only makes it for the holidays. (Sorry, I meant Christmas time!)
It is real easy to make so I made some for everyone at the dispatch office.

I usually find that not throwing a pot of boiling oil on my dispatcher (even when he deserves it) is a good way to keep him happy

I have found that it is like being married. If your dispatcher ain't happy you won't be happy. So just do your job and don't ##### and whine about it .

Send them flowers once a week or if its a guy,pay for his Playboy subscription..

Take the load when he gives it to you, then pick it up, deliver it with no tickets or accidents, and the next time he hears from you, you are empty ready for another dispatch. Do not call him with dumb questions or to cry and whine. Dispatchers do not like "problem children".

Tips for getting the next load :
Help them help you. To dispatch (or the load planner) send in a text, "5 driving hours remaining in my day when I get to the receiver"

So what I'm taking away here is do not whine and cry, and bribery helps
So small tokens of appreciation of course go a long way such as showing up in the morning with donuts (or the wife's baking) for the entire office, keeping dispatch updated of my remaining hours of service, taking the good loads with the bad and being happy to receive the miles, but first and foremost don't mess up -
Just do your job ask questions BEFORE a mistake! be cordial and quick to the point they have a bunch of other drivers to deal with. and never ever ever get in an accident ! you'll do fine by him or her that way and they will do you right.
Ps don't be late on deliveries
