    Hey y’all,

I should probably start this off with the fact that I’m mechanically inept but I need help with identifying an annoying “tick tick tick” noise coming from the lower dash area on my passenger side of my 2021 T680. It’s seriously driving me mad. Is there anything I can do to fix it or to ask my company mechanics to make it stop?

Is the truck on or off? Moving or parked? How loud is it? How frequent are the "ticks"??

might be something stuck in the A/C system and the fan is hitting that object as it spins?.

might be just about anything.. you should record it, and put it here for us to hear.

On or off- the ticking is twice a second. I cannot for the life figure out what it is. I’m using my phone and can’t find a way to upload the sound of the ticking unfortunately.

sometimes, it's the extreme exhaust heat, making the metal parts like say for instance, the heat shields, expand and contract.

this you'd notice, if say you had a brand new car or pick up truck. (and as it is now, you DO have a brand new tractor)

the first x number of miles, the entire exhaust system is "breaking in". i even noticed something like that sound in my (then) brand new stainless steel chimney liner, when i had my old heating system switched out to natural gas. the liner, being brand new, would expand and contract, and make "noises" for a few weeks, until it all settled.

this is my best guess, the exhaust system "breaking in" and that sould will be less and lesser (but not entirely go away), in due time.

Also sounds like the DEF dosing unit.

Exhaust leaks will make annoying ticking sounds. I would look closely around the exhaust piping and clamps off the back of the turbo and check the exhaust manifold where it mates to the head and any slip joints on the manifold. You're looking for the tell tale black soot mark trails that happen in these areas when exhaust leaks.
