Hey guys!
I m back. So now i need some serious answers because i dont know what m i gonna do. I have the 2015 international prostar with the cummins isx with almost 600k miles and it gave me a new problem with the accelerator pedal fault. So the shop i go to regularly they changed the pedal with the sensor but last week that same problem happened again. I have gotten 2 tows in 2 weeks. So i bring it back to the shop and the guys are saying it could either be the wiring to the ECM or the ECM itself. So they suggest just changing the wiring from the ECM to the accelerator and not the ECM, but I suggest changing the ECM aswell.
I dont know what is the average life of a ECM, so i need some opinions and advice.
Thanks

99.999999% chance the ECM is fine. About the only things that'll kill an ECM is if moisture gets in it, someone smashes it with a hammer or it gets zapped with high voltage.

What is the truck doing? TPS going in and out, making the truck buck really hard? Mine went out and my truck started accelerating like crazy. I killed the engine, hit the shoulder, started her back up and the TPS was bucking hard. If and when that happens, foot off the throttle, turn the cruise on, and use the accel switch to accelerate. Major holiday and all the shops were closed, but I ran the truck for 3 days on the accel switch.

Sounds like you need a new shop. They should actually troubleshoot the problem instead of just throwing parts at it while you pay for it all. I would also make them pay for the tow bill as well.

look at the back of the valve cover to see if the big wire loom is touching the valve cover.its common issue with the cummins.the harness will rub against the valve cover and cause short in the wires and cause this issue and many other.had this similar issue on buddy of mines peterbilt 387.good luck!!

99% of the time, it is the wiring between the ECM and throttle pedal sensor including the terminal pins. Unless something obvious is found, sometimes it is just better to run new wires and be done with it.
Highway_bully and QUALITYTRUCK Thank this.
