And please don t be another scottied67 for crying out loud. We don t want to hear you crying about other drivers talking or texting on the phone, or walk in a truck stop bathroom, and watch a driver go into the stall, and say lets be nosy and see what this driver is about to do. Just kidding scottied67

Most of the 'pros' tell people to falsify logs, cry about elogs, cry about other misc things but mostly telling people to log improperly like going to SB while getting loaded or going off duty in the middle of traffic. Old men doing things that were okay to do back in the day being stubborn and then showing nubile boys and girls who think they know whats going on the wrong thing then getting slapped by DoT with fines and OOS going 'why?'. If you're smart you catch these basic things and learn from all the trucking channels on the do's and don'ts of what they do and use your own head.

Pick up the good things the supertrucker youtubers do and remember the bad things they do as well.

Ok I have to ask. Why would you want someone not to get into this industry? Sure I can think of the many reason why not to. But for me that couldn’t get afford an education back then and didn’t want to stay in the military for ever this was the best trade to learn and make good money without an education.

as a new driver a hard worker can make more driving a Prius for Uber in the big cities than driving a commercial vehicle around the same cities. i dont see any incentives for new drivers coming into this industry

You have a good point there. But as a Uber driver, aren’t there certain vehicle requirements? Like a certain year and what not. I’m pretty sure no one would want to drive around in my old 2006 Yukon xl. Lol

If you want to help new drivers out, post content that will actually be helpful. Be instructional rather than conversational. Too many trucking videos on youtube are narcissistic endeavours where they are more interested in talking about themselves and what they think about this or that. They only seem to want to give their opinion of their segment of trucking.

    Some ideas...
    1. Weigh stations, different types (WIM, static etc), types of signals used in various states. Best practices when going through scale (windows down, radios off etc, seatbelt visible, dash clear of clutter)

    2. Shippers and receivers. What they might encounter there, how to best prepare (have all info, DL, pickup number, truck/trailer numbers incl plate ready)

    3. Truck stop routines. If you go to different chains, show how things tend to be done at each one. I have been OTR for two years, on the road for months at a time, but our company recently added TA/Petro as a fuelling stop and I was completely lost as to how their shower system worked. Still don't know how to use the points I have accrued there as it isn't as simple as swiping your rewards card at time of purchase as it is done at PFJ and Loves.
