    Good Morning

    I’ve been contemplating on starting a YouTube channel. You to help young drivers out. Answer any questions that may be out there or help anyone out trying to get in this industry. Just didn’t know how to get started. There is so much negative you tube people out there. People making fun of people on you tube. And I don’t want to be part of that. I want to help people out and change people lives. I hate seeing negative things. I’m always wanting to help people out and wanted to get you guys opinion on how I can incorporate YouTube by doing. Let me know your thoughts and opinions on if I should do that by YouTube or not.

    I watch several YouTube trucking channels, usually in my spare time (2am-4am). I have looked at many more, but after a while I have figured out who has useful information for a new driver like myself what channels to ignore.

    I do not have nor will I ever (well, never say never) have a YouTube channel so I do not know how they operate or what tools they provide for removing comments etc. All I can say to you is start one and see what happens. If you are worried about negative comments then you are approaching it the wrong way. Screw ‘em. If you have good tips and and a crappy presentation you probably won’t get much of a following. If you have what you think are good tips but they really aren’t and you have a great presentation you might garner a few folks.

    Personally I get turned off by too much profanity (although Chris Rock’s “Bigger and Blacker “ is one of my favorites), smoking and vaping (come on, can’t you go 8 minutes without it?), and people who don’t speak properly. Yes, the last one is a value judgment, but I will listen to YouTube videos while driving (not watch the screen) and if I cannot understand what they are saying it gets stopped pretty quick

    There you go, a comment from the peanut gallery. When you start post your channel here. I’ll take a look.

    Cheers

    Honestly, I haven't really found a trucker Youtube channel worth watching. Occasionally a couple of these guys will have something worth listening to, but for the most part they just ramble on and on about nothing I really care about. The only thing most of them want are likes and subscribers hoping for a paycheck from Youtube. If you live on the road and wake up in a truck every morning, you don't want to spend your free time watching somebody else doing what you already do. At least I don't.

    @SteveScott, understood.

    Watching this channel actually helped my backing in CDL school and passing the state exam: David Crowley Trucking.

    I do not watch every video published by the ones I like, only the ones that promise and deliver on a specific topics of interest.

    You will have to show the negatives, show them in a light of how to make them into positives. The real world is challenging and then there is trucking, a bunch of old farts on the way out, way more stuck in the middle wondering what new regulation or game they gonna play, then the fresh meat. Make it real.

    I got a lot of info from YouTube looking at TheRightBrotha,Scooby-Doo,loshawn and truckerbrown,smart truckinh etc....

    Wealth of information out there. What turned me away and led me to only having 3 trucking subscriptions is the ego and drama....focus on trucking and not drama and you'll be fine

    Thanks guys that is some good information. When I come off my home time. I will try to post a video introducing myself and what i do as far as my schedule and work load. Just wanted some insight as to what to post. I personally hat people rambling on and on about nothing and complaining. Put out some good information that will help out other drivers. I’m not here to snitch on other people or make fun of other peopl. Not looking to recruit other people. I want to help people. Let’s face it. It’s tough OTR but if I change he mindset of one driver I’ve done justice. Thanks everyone. Stay safe and have a good day.

    The only advice I have is once you get a lot of followers you need to have a thick skin, or stop reading the comments. With my instagram (personal & business) I’ve got something like 30k followers. You get to the point of realizing some people just want to take the p!ss out of you.

    Being a non-driver/ wannabe at this point I enjoy some the videos. I tend to believe that editing would help the product, but I can believe that the current drivers are busy making a living and this is a way to take some monotony out of the day to day. I believe your audience is people like me (those who’d like to drive or are killing time) and with that thought I’d like to see more open road shots and concise descriptions. I’ve seen “Scotty’s” Channel and enjoy it. Some of the others are painful to watch. I look forward to seeing your vids.

    the best way to help someone is to advise them not to get into this industry
