What do you think about high flow air filters on big trucks? You know like the k&n air filters on the cold air intakes people use on cars..

Most of that is marketing. With computers managing fuel and air flow you gain very little if any. If a filter is clean it's going to flow the same as any other. Think about it. What's more important? 5 HP or keeping dirt out?

    It's snake oil,

If they were that great, don't you think the OEM's would be using them in their trucks?

Not snake oil. They do flow more CFM but at a cost. They dont filter as good as paper filters do.

More air flow = more dirt flow. Stick with stock filters or at least a reputable brand. Open or leaking intake systems cause everything to get dirty and wear faster. Costing way more in the long run than is gained.

Thats the argument do they really work as well as the paper filters filtering dirt out. But I would consider using them if the mileage went up. I mean if it improved your mileage by 1 mile a gallon lets say 6 to 7 miles at 3000 miles a week at 3.15 a gallon thats a savings of around $225 dollars a week.. thats a around 11,000 in savings over the year.. so the numbers could make it a deal whether or not there as good at filtering the dirt..

A buddy of mine put a k&n filter in his truck and took out a 1 year old turbo so I guess the money he saved on fuel can pay for a new turbo again.
