    Hey y’all,

I don’t plan on going to Oregon often but I will go occasionally. Not enough to do the $2k bond unless they start dropping gold nuggets from the sky.

I am registered and have a PIN so I can order permits online.

if I book a trip from Amarillo to Eugene (hypothetical)And I don’t have a load booked out yet. Would I need to permit my way into Oregon, then wait until I book another load out and file for another permit? Especially if I don’t know where my next load will come from (load board) it would be hard to guesstimate miles travelled.

Or Let’s say I book a trip from Texas to Everett, Wa. And will be traveling through the corner or Oregon and back so I can give an accurate idea can I file for the miles both ways at one time as long as the trip is complete within 10 days?

I have been on the website but have no idea on the charge for miles or how the whole deal works.

Your insurance company will probably post the bond for 10%. It only cost me a couple hundred, then after you file on time for a while you will get it back.

I can’t answer your actual question though. I only bought a couple trip permits before getting the annual one and they were thru Oregon and then going east so I was never in the situation you’re talking about.

You'd have to permit in, then get another permit after you know your next route. Keep the permit cost in mind when you book a load. Mine was over 170$ last week.

You can book a round trip if you want but if you don’t know where you’re reloading and where to, yes you need to get 2 permits. FYI if you unloaded in Eugene and dead head to say…..Portland to reload, don’t be afraid of making your “bump” before you acquire the second permit. They usually don’t mess with you at the ports if you have an active permit and empty. I hope you have an extra $250 in this load for this BS!

I usually just run back and forth to Seattle so I usually figure a round trip from Ontario to Umatilla and back. Last trip, I reloaded near Vancouver so I re entered the state in Portland. Permit lady WOULD NOT let me just add miles to my existing permit. She told me that once I left the State, my permit was void even though I already paid round trip from Ontario to Umatilla. So, I ran WA 14 from Vancouver to Umatilla. I don’t recommend hwy 14. Next time I’ll just order one way permit in case this happens again.

Thanks yall for the replies. Much appreciated!

I don’t plan on going often. When I do go I’ll make sure it pays very well. There is fairly large contract going on right now so if I don’t go soon I will wait until next year.

I have to confess, part of it is sightseeing and the other part is getting paid while doing it. I won’t go for pennies, I may go once or twice and call it done or I may enjoy it enough to go back more. I spent a few years in the Pacific Northwest and it is a big draw for me.

You don’t have to put up the $2000
    In cash
It’s just like bonding out of jail.
Small percentage up front in cash is all .

I was worried about this before the first time I went. It's not bad. Call the number and get the permit over the phone. That's what I did for my trip in and out.

I touch Oregon maybe once or twice a year.

    #### , I haven’t been to Oregon since maybe 1990 or earlier. I thought by now all this would be ancient history with trip permits.
