My apu wouldn't start and had red triangle and said eng...I checked it and was completely out of oil. I put oil in top fill. Still won't start. Any advice would be appreciated. Also was wondering if it has safety feature to turn off so it doesn't burn engine up if it runs out. Thanks
Thermoking evolution ran out of oil.

I’m assuming you reset the apu? If you haven’t, I would try that first.
Tombstone69 Thanks this. -
Most of the time if an APU happens to stop the whole unit is out. Find the reset and press it. Most trucks I had that reset was under the bunk.

Going try..not sure where reset is in side box. Thanks!

Unless you simply haven’t checked the oil in months and it slowly burned through it all, and assuming we’re talking about a newer unit, you better also check for oil leaks if you ever get it started.
If it leaked, I’d suspect you’d be able to see evidence of it still. If it burned through a quart in a relatively short time, something is wrong in that scenario, too. Do you run it continuously or in some sort of auto mode?
I’ve heard of them being improperly set up and they’ll run 24/7 practically no matter if the truck is parked or running down the road. That would lead to seriously shortening it’s useful life. -

My low hour carrier APU will require about a half quart to bring back to full after about 2 months of running during most breaks on various start/stop modes (heat, cool, and battery maintenance)
They’re easy to overfill. Not sure how detrimental that might be.mitten Thanks this. -
Not even showing on stick after I put oil in.

No..I just put in half quart to see. Can't get shop to answer me back about any of this. I can't find reset switch anywhere...we have bunk heater separate so who knows.
