Went and put a new alternator on my apu ... turned it on and it went straight to like 15.5 volts. And higher... So i immediatly turned it off and unhooked all the ground wires thinking it was not grounding well, cleaned all the terminals....
Hook everything back up and now it is not charging, wont go past 12.3 volts....
Think i fried the alternator when it went to 15.5 ? Short in wiring ? Batteries? Any idea ?
Have taken it apart and put it back together like 4 times already .. Cant figure it out..

Should have taken it to Arizona Laser Alignment when you were home.
They work on tri pacs.
Sounds like a wire rubbing.
They are really good and tracking that stuff down.
They'll get you a reman alternator too for less than your $540 paper weight.D.Tibbitt Thanks this. -
Memory is fuzzy but when we had to change our evolution alternator, it was a different amperage and therefore to the belt size had to change. I think it was due to different pulley sizes.
Not sure if this is your issue but it is something to keep in mind.D.Tibbitt Thanks this. -

It wasn’t picking up the battery voltage is why it went to 15v. Take a good look at the wire from the B+ on the alternator to the voltage regulator and the main power wire all the way to the batteries.
