I have a TK SB3 that won't start after sitting a day or two without running. Cranks fine but won't fire. finally starts after about 3 tries.
I assume there's a check valve in the pump somewhere to prevent bleed back. Does anyone know where to find it? Or have any other ideas?

you may have developed a slight leak in the fuel supply allowing the fuel to run back down the line into the tank. I don't have my unit right here to take a foto...but there is a manual pump and also a bleeder screw that you crack open till you get fuel flow...

It could be the shut down solenoid, do you hear a loud clicking noise before it starts to crank? Sometimes this solenoid get stuck, had the same problem on a reefer & this will stop the engine starting.
    Mine worked sometimes, sometimes not...

You could also after sitting for 2 days try priming the unit see if the fuel pump is primed before starting it.

I use to have a 2000 model SB III and it did the same thing. I can't remember exactly what parts Thermo King said it needed. I just remember them saying it would cost about $400, so I just lived with it.They told me they had a lot of problems with the SB III doing that. Mine would usually crank, then die. When I tried it again, it would crank and run fine.

Yea, I'm sure the fuel is leaking back cuz it's doing just as Roadhound described. Starts an then dies out for lack of fuel so I'm sure it's not any kind of forced shut down either. It will start if primed first but I can't do that everytime as it's just a spair trailer and I would like to mix it in with the other drop trailers at our customer but i don't think the spotters gonna take time to prime it.:biggrin_25513:

there are rubber fuel lines going to the injectors. check them for cracks and leaks sucking air and leaking. We have had those problems

Mine was doing the same thing. REplaced shut down solenoid that was leaking just a bet and it seems to have helped.

some of TG refers are equiped with electric fuel pumps. I used to replace them with cummins electric pump ore with external car electric gas pumps (from Mecedes for exmple).

Pump is usually located near refer fuel tank, it is on for some seconds when refer engine sturts up ore sometimes it is on all the time engine runs (depends on software)....
