What in tarnation is this Cargomatic and Convoy apps supposed to do for owner ops bottom line? So far Cargomatic takes 10 to 20 percent off the top of the load being offered and more coverage than Convoy as of March 2016. With that said,if owner operators are not business savvy they will be the ones jumping all over cheap loads driving business to these 3pl app companies. There is some other competition from Cargo Chief in the long-haul segment for Cargomatic and a potential one in Trucker Path. If these companies are not brought out by the mega 3pl's (CH Robinson,Etc.) to preserve their margins (!) ,then it could drive some of the parasite brokers out of the industry. With ELD implementation across the board coming soon much of what these apps promise will be duplicitous, if you are signed on to a carrier they would have the ability to look up your hours ,availability and location from customer anyway? For those with own authority you probably would broaden your reach and if the truck information is correct you can use one app to see where your competition is located to help you bid?. Not to mention NO one with super load equipment will even bother because the rates are not up for discussion. Most if not all super load haulers are firm on their rates, they would be foolish to not be..I'd like to think other specialized haulers do the same?

I would be firm on my rates no matter what I pull. I have a bottom number and it is not $.95 per mile plus FSC.

I don't really see the problem. What kind of customers are "business owners" chasing? The ones who want it hauled for the lowest price without a care in the world of how it will get there or what condition their product will be in when it shows up? I don't see any of my customers looking to save a few bucks and then wonder why Costco or Walmart or other huge customers are threatening to stop buying from them when they can't tell them why the load isn't there or even where it is or when it will be there. Save a few bucks in the trucking. Lose out on some $xxx million worth of sales. It isn't rocket science.

I agree on that, if a company can't beat out their competition they stand to lose more than just a few dollars saved on each load. Big shippers that require at least 100 to 150 trucks to even be on their list to move their freight such as L brands(Victoria Secret,Bath and Body Work's),Kohl's,etc. who handle their own logistics probably wouldn't waste time on this as all the carriers in each Shippers system have similar ballpark rates on each lane. Shippers such as Boeing and Lockheed Martin only deal with carriers on their approved carrier list. Not to mention how some shippers track how many late loads(On Pickup and Delivery) each carrier has done and kick them of their Carrier list. Timeliness definitely has it's benefits one of which is higher rates!
