What is the true out of pocket cost to replace a windshield? I realize it must be more than just cost of glass and install. There must be cost of downtime, possible late fees, etc., etc. Any good thoughts?

Besides cost of glass, down time, driving to/from shop that repairs it, time spent locating said shop, etc

Two piece or one?
guy in town i live that owns a parts store will do a one piece for $175 including windshield, don’t know about two piece.
Can leave it with him on saturday he’ll do it after 12, when store closes, and you can pick it up the next day or monday morning if you want to wait.Crude Truckin' and Siinman Thank this. -
Some places will come to you and knock it out within an hour so no down time hardly at all. Just cost to get it done. Or some shops will let you drop it off and knock it out that day and pick It up on next day or same day. Depends on whom you go with will be the issue.

Last one I had done was maybe an hour. My local Peterbilt shop works with a local glass shop to install windshields. Peterbilt can buy the glass cheaper but having the glass business come out and do the install saves on labor.
Edit to add: I’ve never had to get one replaced on the road, like from a big rock shattering it or something like that. I imagine that could take a few hours to a day or more depending on how close you are to someone who can get the glass and install. I’ve always been lucky and have been able to schedule a replacement while I’m home.Siinman Thanks this. -

If your near Hubbard, Ohio "Repair that glass" is cheap and quick. They replaced mine for $180 took about 1 hour. They're about a quarter mile past the Loves, you have to drop your trailer at one of the 3 truckstops at the exit and bobtail over though, no room for a trailer. Family owned business for over 50 years, they get the job done.

They can teavel the entire phx valley. Or u can bobtail to their shop. Not getting in there with a trailer tho... If u are ever in phx area
